AEVEX to Acquire BlackSea Technologies, Strengthening Its Multi‑Domain Autonomous Systems Capabilities

SOLANA BEACH, Calif., August 12, 2026 - AEVEX Corp. (NYSE: AVEX), a U.S. defense technology firm focused on autonomous systems, AI-driven mission software, and advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance tools, said today it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase BlackSea Technologies. BlackSea is recognized as one of the largest suppliers of unmanned surface and subsea vessels to the U.S. military market.

The acquisition is expected to broaden AEVEX's portfolio beyond its current air and ground platforms, adding a significant maritime component. BlackSea's vessels are used for mine countermeasures, oceanographic survey, and anti-submarine warfare training, among other missions. AEVEX executives say the deal will allow the combined company to offer a more complete multi-domain picture to defense customers, integrating data from underwater, surface, and aerial systems into a single operational framework.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. AEVEX said it plans to keep BlackSea's existing production facility and workforce intact, with the current management team reporting directly to AEVEX's maritime division. The move comes as the Pentagon pushes for more unmanned systems across all branches, aiming to reduce risk to personnel and lower operating costs. Industry analysts note that the deal positions AEVEX to compete more directly with larger primes that have been expanding their own unmanned maritime offerings.
