The Saline Area Schools Board of Education has greenlit a significant technology investment exceeding $900,000, aimed at upgrading devices and infrastructure across the district. The unanimous approval, granted during the board's March 10 meeting, will fund a substantial refresh of classroom and administrative tools.
The purchase includes 1,800 new iPads designated for both student and staff use, ensuring broader access to digital learning resources. To bolster specific programs, the board also approved 350 Chromebooks and 35 Omen laptops for the C204 computer lab at Saline High School, supporting specialized coursework in technology and design.
Beyond student devices, the investment addresses critical network security. The purchase includes two enterprise-grade Cisco 3110 Next-Generation Firewalls. These systems will replace aging equipment, providing enhanced protection for the district's network and safeguarding sensitive student and administrative data. District officials emphasized that this comprehensive upgrade is essential for maintaining a modern, secure, and effective learning environment, keeping pace with educational technology demands. The new equipment is expected to be deployed in preparation for the upcoming school year.
