North Korea says it tested new warheads, technology and navigation in latest launches

North Korea announced on Monday that its latest round of missile tests involved new warhead designs, advanced guidance technology, and upgraded navigation systems. The statement from state media came just one day after South Korea's military reported detecting multiple projectiles fired from the North's west coast toward the sea.

According to the official report, the launches were part of a planned effort to verify the reliability of newly developed tactical warheads and to test the performance of a modern navigation system designed for precision strikes. The North Korean military described the tests as successful, claiming the weapons demonstrated improved accuracy and flight stability.

South Korean officials had earlier said they tracked several short-range ballistic missiles traveling about 300 kilometers before splashing down in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and China. The launches marked the latest in a series of weapons demonstrations by Pyongyang this year, as it continues to advance its missile capabilities despite international sanctions.

Analysts note that the emphasis on new warheads and navigation technology suggests North Korea is focused on making its missiles harder to intercept and more accurate for potential battlefield use. The tests also come amid stalled denuclearization talks and heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
