Nuclea Energy to Acquire Moltex Advanced Nuclear Technology Platform

Nuclea Energy to Acquire Moltex Advanced Nuclear Technology Platform

Moltex Energy announced that Nuclea Energy Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to buy the company's advanced nuclear technology platform. The deal follows a competitive bidding process that drew strong interest from multiple parties in both the technology and the company itself.

The acquisition covers Moltex's full suite of advanced reactor designs and related intellectual property. This includes its work on molten salt reactor technology, which has been positioned as a potential solution for flexible, low-cost nuclear power generation. Nuclea Energy, a firm focused on next-generation clean energy investments, will take over the development and commercialization of these systems.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in the coming months, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

Moltex has spent years developing its technology, with a particular focus on using molten salt fuels to improve safety and efficiency compared to conventional light-water reactors. The company also explored applications for nuclear waste recycling, which had drawn attention from government and private sector partners.

For Nuclea, the purchase marks a major step into the advanced nuclear space. The company said it plans to continue the technical work already underway and will look to accelerate pathways toward demonstration and eventual deployment. Moltex leadership expressed confidence that the new ownership will provide the resources needed to move the technology forward.

The announcement brings clarity to the future of Moltex's projects, which had been in limbo during the bidding process. Existing partnerships and pilot programs are expected to be reviewed as part of the transition.
